Its been days now since I’ve returned from the world’s greatest music festival in Austin, TX, SXSW of course. Good times were had, new friends were made, great music was listened to and yet I crave more. Before the music festival had even officially kicked off I had already seen James McMurtry, The Smithereens, Matt the Electrician, Bob Schneider, Two Cow Garage, Grand Champeen, Glossary and The Drams. Stay tuned for the official tally as plenty more can be added to that list. In the meantime, let’s take a look at what’s new this week.

He is M.Ward and she is Zooey Deschanel (yes the one you seen in the moovees). This perfectly unexpected duo met on set in 2006 when they recorded a version of Richard and Linda Thompson’s “When I Get To The Border” for a soundtrack. The rest is as they say ‘history’ as this is Volume 1 of what has to mean there’s a Volume 2, right? Channeling vintage country and pop music from the 60s the duo make for a nice combination. File under: Indie / Country / Pop
