Contribute

We here at the tiny town Twangville would like to encourage our visitors to make themselves at home. Anyone who would like to contribute can now do so. We’re offering a few different levels of interaction to allow anyone to post alt/twang news, reviews, playlists and links to artist/promoter-approved songs and podcasts to our web site.

Here’s how it works. Anyone who registers will automatically be authorized as a “Hooligan” (Contributor) and can submit any post to be reviewed and approved by our town “Posse” (Editors). As we get to know our “Hooligans”, we’ll invite them to become a “Vigilantes” (Authors) so that posts can be made at any given time (the distinction is primarily to prevent spammers from medling with the site). Over time, we’ll elevate select “Vigilantes” to the “Posse” based on criteria we’re bound to make up along the way.

Why would someone want to become a resident of Twangville?
Citizenship consists of volunteer contributions only. However, by becoming a part of our extended family you’ll be eligible to get your name and address on our coveted (or at least we’d like to think so) reviewer’s list. Any reviews you do on the site will encourage artists and promoters to send you new music for review.

Levels:

Hooligans (Contributors): Entry level, all posts are reviewed by the Posse before going live. Save your post as a ‘draft’ and let a Posse member know it is ready for review. This feature will soon close to ‘by request’ only. Get in now before this offer expires.
Vigilantes (Authors): For approved Hooligans who are interested in making regular contributions and/or being a part of our reviewer’s list. The biggest benefit is the potential for free music for review. Plus you can join our mailing list to find out what albums are available for review. Vigilantes can post without review by the Posse. Please contact Tom if you are interested in being a Vigilante.
The Posse (Editors): Reserved for a dutiful few whose efforts have been acknowledged by the good folks of Twangville. Posse members will get insight to Twangville’s stats and are eligible to share in any profits (if we ever have any) made from advertising on the site. You’ll also get your very own bio page to show everyone how awesome you are.

Town Rules

Helpful hints to keep the community safe and harmonized.

  • Seek permission from artists, songwriters, record labels or promoters before posting MP3s or Podcasts.
  • Link out to files or host them elsewhere.
  • Remember to give credit to sources.
  • Keep it music related. Though books, movies and other forms of related entertainment will work.
  • Keep it Alt-Country, Americana, Indie, Rock, Folk & Blues or anything that remotely fits in these categories.
  • You are welcome to post the same story both to Twangville and to your own blog. All we ask is that you cross-promote them with a link back.
  • Be cool, don’t be a bonehead. Abusers will be banished.

NOTE: We will never use your email address for anything other than Twangville updates without your permission. And we’ll probably never even do that.
