DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS, Brighter Than Creation’s Dark (New West)

Official Site | MySpace | Spinner
album cover Oh glory! The mother truckin’ Alabama hammers are back and they’ve got something to say. About 19 different things to say if you count the number of songs on their latest release ‘Brighter Than Creation’s Dark’. They may be without Jason Isbell but that hasn’t stopped them from being the best alt country band in the land. Filling the void legendary Muscle Shoals musician Spooner Oldham joins DBT as the band belts out 75 minutes of southern rock. Even bassist Shonna Tucker takes the mike making you wonder why she’s been hiding all the while. Time to dust off them alligator boots. Start with “The Righteous Path”, “3 Dimes Down” and “Purgatory Line”. File under: Rock / Indie / Alt-Country

I used to never listen to country music, but it’s changed. A lot of it is more mainstream and I like that. Plus the women are hot and that makes everything better!
