HAYES CARLL, Trouble In Mind (Lost Highway)
Official Site | MySpace | Preview
Known for his dry sense of humor, tell-it-like-it-is songwriting and the first self-released record to reach #1 on the Americana Music Chart (‘Little Rock’), Hayes Carll brings us a new album on Lost Highway Records he calls ‘Trouble In Mind’. He’s been named a potential successor to the Townes Van Zandt / Guy Clark Texas folk legacy and is undoubtedly making a case for it. Help along the way from Dan Baird, Darrell Scott, Will Kimbrough and former Flying Burrito Brother Al Perkins almost ensures that ‘Trouble In Mind’ will make another statement on the Americana charts in 2008. I submit track 14 “She Left Me For Jesus” as evidence. File under: Folk / Americana / Country
Here’s a live version of Hayes Carll’s “It’s a Shame” recorded at The Continental Club on February 3, 2007.*
