TIFT MERRITT, Another Country (Fantasy)

While we all sit back and sigh a brief moment of relief to know that Jamie Lynn passed her GED this week. Its good to know that there’s a bunch of new music we can send her as a graduation gift. After all, I think she’s ready for a more mature selection, don’t you? Twangville’s featured release this week comes from our freckled friend from North Carolina, Tift Merritt. Inspired by some time off accompanied by a piano in Paris, Merritt brings us her third album aptly titled ‘Another Country’. Its a solid record though I’m interested what the outcome might have been if the situation were a little different, say … being stuck in London with a guitar. My two favs from the album so far are “Broken” (loving this one) and “My Heart is Free”. Also check out “Something to Me”, “Hopes to High” and “Tender Branch”. File under: Americana / Folk
