A cherished twice-a-year tradition, we’re gathering in the Dallas backyard for another crisp autumn afternoon of world-class songcraft, cold refreshments, and great company. There’s a distinct magic to songwriters sharing a back porch—where raw talent takes center stage in the round, and the tales behind the music can carry just as much weight as the songs themselves.
This edition features a powerhouse trio of storytellers. John Hollier blends heartland rock with the rich French-Cajun heritage of his Louisiana roots. Zoë Pete Ford brings sharp storytelling and rhythm-driven grit forged in the Brooklyn indie scene. And Jeff Black joins us with a formidable songwriting catalog, having penned Top 10 country hits alongside his own acclaimed discography. MEET THE ARTISTS
A master craftsman who put himself on the map with his debut Birmingham Road (recorded alongside members of Wilco), Jeff Black’s catalog runs deep across Americana history. Sam Bush has been one of his most consistent champions, recording a number of Black’s songs over the years, including “Same Ol’ River” and “Gold Heart Locket,” and Black co-wrote the title track to Bush’s Grammy-nominated album “Circles Around Me.” BlackHawk carried two of his compositions onto the country charts: “That’s Just About Right” hit the Top 10, and “King of the World” reached the Top 30.
His songs have found their way onto film and television soundtracks as well, including “The Thing Called Love,” the PBS documentary “The Appalachians,” and “Steel City,” winner of the Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize for Best Drama. Currently splitting time between Muscle Shoals sessions, international live releases, and writing a new studio album for 2027, the Nashville resident brings decades of iconic American songwriting to the Dallas stage.
Pronounced oh-lee-ay, this Nashville-based singer-songwriter carries deep French-Cajun roots straight from a central Louisiana crawfish farm. Layering heartland rock and roll with Southern storytelling, Hollier debuted his self-titled 2023 album (produced by Eric Masse) featuring Madi Diaz alongside members from Cage the Elephant and Deer Tick. Fresh off the release of his new album Rainmaker earlier this year, Hollier brings serious momentum following recent support slots for Red Clay Strays, Flatland Cavalry, and main-stage appearances at Jazz Fest and Americana Fest.
Cutting her teeth in Brooklyn’s indie scene as a versatile multi-instrumentalist behind the kit, guitar, and keys, Zoë Pete Ford brings road-tested grit and a sharp sense of arrangement to her solo work. Operating with a true DIY ethos, her genre-blending sound fuses rock ’n’ roll, punkabilly, blues, and country. Anchored by releases like 2023’s Life’s a Cigarette and 2025’s One Of The Guys, her songs deliver sharp lyricism packed with character-rich tales of bootleggers, backseat beauty queens, and weary wayfarers.
