Monday Morning Video – Devil’s Sooty Brother

Monday, December 07, 2020 By Mayer Danzig

Dallas musicians Joshua Ray Walker and Nathan Mongol Wells – aka Devil’s Sooty Brother – sure do like to perform. The two originally joined forces as part of Ottoman Turks, a loud and rowdy quartet. When that wasn’t enough, they started a monthly residency as Devil’s Sooty Brother, mixing originals into sets filled with classic country songs.

Here are two gems from a recent house party, a fiery take on the traditional Appalachian folk song “Shady Grove” and the Walker original “Lot Lizard”.

And speaking of the Turks, they recently released a dark, dare I say heavy metal, new single titled “35 to Life“. Walker released his sophomore solo release Glad You Made It earlier this year.
