Video Premiere – Leroy From the North

Thursday, September 05, 2019 By Shawn Underwood

A few weeks back I got a chance to hear and review the new EP from LA-based Leroy From the North. Health & Fitness delivers a big dollop of southern rock vibe, with influences from Muscle Shoals to Macon. While the guitar hammers the classic power chords, the lyrics come from current cultural phenomenon. They range from an introspective look at friends to an anthem about just wanting to disconnect from the world.

The exception to the updated southern rock style is the final cut on the EP, Hey Man (Hammerheads). You can hear the Michigan rock Leroy frontman Eli Wulfmeier grew up with. It’s three-and-a-half minutes of punishing guitar and Iggy Pop frustration with everyone’s habit of expressing their views as stridently as possible. They decided to do a video of Hey Man and we’re happy here at Twangville to be able to premiere it for you.

About the author:  I've actually driven from Tehatchapee to Tonopah. And I've seen Dallas from a DC-9 at night.
