Monday Morning Video – Glen Campbell

Monday, June 12, 2017 By Mayer Danzig

It doesn’t feel right to refer to an album as being a “farewell” release but such is the case with Glen Campbell’s Adios. The 81-year old legend was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease six years ago, a devastating illness that robs its victims of memory and so much more. Knowing what the future would hold, Campbell headed into the studio to record one final album.

In that light Adios is a bittersweet celebration of Campbell’s career. Longtime friends and family gathered around Campbell to lend their support, not to mention their talents, as Campbell performed songs that represented a survey of his career. There are compositions from Jimmy Webb, whose “Wichita Lineman” was an early hit for Campbell, a duet with Willie Nelson on the Nelson classic “Ain’t It Funny How Time Slips Away” and a dazzling take on “Everybody’s Talkin’” that features Campbell’s daughter Ashley on banjo.

Here are a few clips of Campbell through the years, as well as a stream of “Everybody’s Talkin'” from the new release.
