The Bloodshot Records day party is a traditional highlight of every SXSW. Held behind the Yard Dog Folk Art Gallery in Austin Texas, it is a relaxed afternoon of filled with beer, food, merriment and, of course, great music.
To celebrate their 15th anniversary, the folks at Bloodshot decided to take that experience on the road throughout the United States. Although it will be tough to recreate the full SXSW experience outside Austin, I know that they’ll do their best. (I like living in Boston, but Boston ain’t no Austin…)
You can get in on the fun and win this limited edition poster. Even better, it is signed by many of the artists who performed at the Boston party: Graham Parker, Bobby Bare Jr., Ha Ha Tonka, The Deadstring Brothers, Charlie Pickett and Justin Townes Earle!
To win, post a comment below with your favorite Bloodshot Records release. (For a reminder on the depth of their catalogue, click here.) A winner will be selected at random when the contest ends on Friday, 4 September 09 at midnight ET.**
Since 1994, Bloodshot Records has championed the music that lurks between genres. We’ve always been drawn to the good stuff nestled in the dark, nebulous cracks where punk, country, soul, pop, bluegrass, blues and rock mix and mingle and mutate. We like artists who work over American roots forms with chains and velvet gloves with little regard for formality or protocol, who aren’t afraid to molest and caress these forms and take music into uncharted and exciting waters. They don’t listen to the taste-makers or trend-watchers—hell, most of the time they don’t even listen to us.
Special thanks to our friends at Bloodshot Records for the poster and for 15 years of mighty fine music.
