Its that time of year again where we here in the States celebrate a holiday we may never fully understand or at least we won’t comprehend it to the extent that the Plymouth Plantation habitants did. I usually celebrate Thanksgiving with an early morning Turkey Trot, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on the telly which preceeds football time (which is when the appetizers come out, hell yeah). And then its all downhill from there when I proceed to stuff myself with more stuffing than can fit in the hollowed out rear of the greatest of wild birds. My daughter unintentionally calls the day the Thanksgiving Beast which is somehow quite appropriate.
Its also the time of year that we here at the Twangville Plantation like to say thanks for all the great contributions that have been made over the course of the year. In just a short time Twangville will be in its fourth year of existence. Its hard to believe considering it began with stupid posts like this one. Over the course of the past year, the site has been bolstered by great folks like Kelly Dearmore, Shawn Underwood, Chip Frazier, Alex Verhoeff, Eli Petersen, Todd Mathis, Danielle McClure, Sarah Davis, Erica Bruce, Scott Orr, John Anderson, Bobby K, and most importantly the “heart and soul” of Twangville, Mayer Danzig (the gun bearing Sheriff). Without these fine folks Twangville wouldn’t be much more than a pile of bits on Al Gore’s information superhighway.
I’d also like to take this time to continue an ongoing tradition and announce the newest members of the Twangville Posse, Kelly Dearmore of Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX and Alex Verhoeff of The Netherlands for their articles and enthusiasm throughout the past year. Seriously, thanks guys and welcome to the crew.
But wait, there’s more. Hopefully, you’ll notice a shiny new look and feel for Twangville. This comes after weeks of noodling Derek Punsalan‘s WordPress template in what little free time I could find. So thanks Derek for making that available. Thanks are also due to Will Hoge for the “Blackbird On A Lonely Wire” inspiration and designer Rob Soulé for his birds in the city inspiration.
We also owe thanks for continued support from all of the artists and bands that reach out to us plus our friends at Americana Roots, Hickory Wind, The 9513 and IBWIP. And of course the blogfathers at No Depression who were to my knowledge the first in the game even if they started with traditional media.
Last but most certainly not least, I owe a great deal of thanks to my lovely wife Ty and our two amazing kids who humor me by continuing to support my silly ideas and passions.
So please, if you celebrate the time honored tradition of Thanksgiving Day where you live enjoy your feast and please come back to spend some time at Twangville. Peace on earth, y’all.
