Bruce Robison + More, Releases 9/2

Monday, September 01, 2008 By Tom Osborne

Bruce Robison performing “She Don’t Care” at Scholz Beer Garte, Austin 8-13-08

BRUCE ROBISON, The New World (Premium)
Official Site | MySpace | Samples (Amazon)

album coverThe most disappointing thing about this album is that there are only ten tracks. This is perhaps a countrier version of something Peter Case would put together which makes it top shelf for me. Robison has long been an elite member of the Austin music scene and his connections to country royalty are well known (Kelly Willis, Charile Robison, Emily Robison). ‘The New World’ is yet another great album from Bruce Robison. Forget about the creepy, weird album art and soak up tracks like “The Hammer”, “California 85”, and “Echo”. File under: Country / Folk

Noteworthy

  • BRIAN WILSON, That Lucky Old Sun (Capitol)
    Official Site | Samples (Amazon)
A whopping 17 new songs from the California beach boy.
  • RODNEY CROWELL, Sex & Gasoline (Yep Roc)
    Official Site | Samples (Amazon)
Never shy to speak his mind, Crowell tells it like it is and Doyle Bramhall II pitches in on guitar.
  • SONYA KITCHELL, This Storm (Decca/Velour)
Official Site | MySpace | Samples (Amazon)
Clearly a rising star, Kitchell aims to make a statement with her latest.

More Highlights

APOLLO SUNSHINE, GIANT SAND, JACKSONS, JEM, JOE LOVANO, JOHN CLEARY & THE ABSOLUTE MONSTER GENTLEMEN, THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS, WILLEM MAKER and more. See our Release Calendar for more new releases like these.
