Sarah Borges & The Broken Singles + More, Album Previews

Monday, June 11, 2007 By Tom Osborne

Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles, Diamonds in the Dark (Full CD)

album coverNow here’s a record to get excited about. I’ve had high anticipations for this record ever since catching Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles live last summer at the Old Dominion Beer Festival. Since then they’ve signed with Sugar Hill Records which can only be a good thing. They are what Twangville is all about, an alternative base with undercurrents of country and rockabilly accentuated at times by the twangy steel pedal and other times the beachy surf guitar licks of lead guitarist Mike Castellana. Plus, rock chicks rule! Sarah Borges plays a mean guitar and her vocals help to make the band shine. SBBS should be considered Twangville royalty. If they haven’t been on your radar, do yourself a favor and put them in your rotation. They’ve got a crazy summer tour schedule. Be sure and catch ’em in your town. File under: Rock / Country / Rockabilly

Bonus:

Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles are playing live today (6/12) at noon on Boston’s 92.9 WBOS, listenable online at www.wbos.com.
