Wilco, ‘Sky Blue Sky’
With hints of Southern California folk-rock reminiscient of the Eagles, Wilco is back with its sixth studio album. I may be alone in this thinking, but I’m relieved to hear less ‘experimentation’ in this release. With the exception of a few songs, 2004’s A Ghost is Born was not for me. From what I’ve heard so far, Sky Blue Sky helps confirm that Wilco is one of the best active bands around. In related news, how amazing is it that we’ve had Wilco, Son Volt and Golden Smog all with new releases this year? File under: Rock / Acoustic / Alternative.
Worth Mention:
- Maximo Park, ‘Our Earthly Pleasures’
- Travis, ‘The Boy With No Name’
- Shannon Wright, ‘Let in the Light’
- Elliott Smith, ‘New Moon’ [source: MySpace]
Bonus:
Adam Hood, “22 Days Too Long”
