Monday Morning Video: 2012 Americana Music Awards

Monday, October 15, 2012 By Mayer Danzig

As part of our re-cap of the 2012 Americana Music Conference and Festival, here are some highlights from the Americana Awards show.

We bookend our collection with the all-star version of “The Weight,” a tribute to Levon Helm. We open with Emmylou Harris, Buddy Miller, Richard Thompson, Brittany Howard and others rehearsing “The Weight” for the show’s finale. We close with the performance from the show; don’t miss Bonnie Raitt’s impassioned vocals.

In between we’ve got Richard Thompson’s solo “1952 Vincent Black Lightning,” Raitt and John Hiatt dueting on Raitt’s Hiatt-penned breakthrough song “Thing Called Love,” Lee Ann Womack joined by surprise guest Tom T. Hall for Hall’s “I Love” and Guy Clark’s stirring “My Favorite Picture of You.”
