Willie Nelson & More, Album Previews

THIS WEEK’S ELITE:

album coverWillie Nelson, Songbird (Lost Highway)
Backed by Ryan Adams’ band, The Cardinals, the country legend spits out yet another album this time with a youthful (yet classic Willie) touch. Adams acted as producer of the album. Check out tracks “Rainy Day Blues”, “We Don’t Run” and “Songbird”. You’ll also find a cover of “Hallelujah” on there but nothing can measure up to Tom Waits’ version of the song. country, alt-country

WORTH MENTION:

The Who, Endless Wire (Republic)

MISSED OPPORTUNITIES (high anticipation, no apparent album stream):

Gob Iron, Death Songs for the Living (Sony) [JayFarrar.com]
Jay Farrar (Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt) and Anders Parker (Varnaline) have formed Gob Iron and put together an album of dark folk standards. Preview “Death’s Black Train” and “Hard Times” on Farrar’s web site.

See our Release Calendar for more.

[All full album streams courtesy of AOL Music unless otherwise noted. Album streams are typically only available the week of their release.]
