Tell us about your tour vehicle. Any notable breakdown stories?
2004 silver Prevost tour bus. Restoration In progress. Pretty much everything has been redone. So many breakdowns I can’t keep up. We always manage to get it put back together and get down the road.
How do you eat cheaply and/or healthy while on tour?
I usually take protein powder and peanut butter on the road and eat healthy when we’re out and about. Usually.
How many strings do you break in a typical year? How much does it cost to replace them?
The only thing I break is my Vox Ac/30. No idea how many times or how much a year. I rarely break strings and we have a tech in New Braunfels who does constant maintenance on my guitars.
Where do you rehearse?
Rehearsal is our studio. We built it in 2020. Nothing but good memories. It was a great space to have during the lockdown since we couldn’t gig. It was a safe space to release energy.
What was the title and a sample lyric from the first song that you wrote?
Oof. “Wanted Man” I liked the old west. It’s embarrassing. lol
Describe your first gig.
First gig was the Oklahoma Opry when I was young. I picked out a song and their house band played it. I believe it was a George Strait song. It was a wonderful experience for a kid.
What was your last day job? What was your favorite day job?
My last day job was the oilfield. My favorite day job is a gig during the day.
How has your music-related income changed over the past 5-10 years? What do you expect it to look like 5-10 years from now?
Have no idea on this. I deal with the music side of life and my wife deals with the rest.
What one thing do you know now that you had wished you knew when you started your career in music?
If I would’ve known that it would be this easy with a three piece band, and with my current bandmates, I would have started it this way in 1994.
