Back in September, Benyaro released their latest album, One Step Ahead Of Your Past. Â As the musical vehicle for Jackson Hole’s Ben Musser and Leif Routman, Benyaro excels in the rougher, funkier edges of Americana. Â One Step Ahead Of Your Past exemplifies that with some cowpunk, some post-Seattle grunge, and even what I’d call “front porch rap,” all showing up on various songs on the record.
One of the catchier tunes on the release is a somewhat autobiographical number called Pimp Wife. Â Twangville is pleased to debut the video for your viewing and listening enjoyment. Â Starting with a flamenco-style guitar reminiscent of a Robert Rodriguez movie opening, Pimp Wife is a tribute to the hard-working women behind the scenes in the music business. Â Or as Musser put it, “she kicks [my] ass out the door each day…and makes me a better person.” Â Well said.
