We at Twangville are proud to premier the new single by west coast Country Rockers Nocona. “How Do You Feel?” is a dueling guitar extravaganza featuring the legendary Rosie Flores. It is certainly fitting to fuse the edgy Rockabilly of Flores with the edgy Roots Rock of Nocona. The song will be available March 13th on all streaming platforms via Mule Kick Records. Recorded at the Fitting Room Studio in Nashville and produced by KP Hawthorn, the track previews a forthcoming 10-song album due this summer (date TBA). This will be the band’s first new music since 2020.

About the song, lead singer Chris Isom said the following:
“How Do You Feel?” grew out of the helpless despair that comes from witnessing so much violence and evil in the world while hearing people speak with certainty about who’s right, who’s wrong, and who should pay. The song asks what it would actually feel like to be forced to choose who lives and who dies in a time thick with retribution and division, where everyone believes their view of the “good guys” and “bad guys” is obvious. It started with a riff I played for months, the lyrics have a not so subtle nod to “Dublin Blues” by Townes Van Zandt—leaning more toward the Guy Clark version. Where that song gestures toward forgiveness, “forgive me all my anger, forgive me all my faults”, this one turns the other way, contemplating the inescapable sin of making a life-and-death decision. Forgiveness or attrition may follow, but the weight of the choice itself is the heart of the song. We kept the recording organic and old-school rock ’n’ roll, ditching the metronome so the rhythms could breathe off the grid. Recording at The Fitting Room in Nashville was amazing but we had the added immeasurable gift of having Rosie Flores flying in from Austin to leave her mark on the second verse, chorus, and solo, lifted by Adrienne’s thumping bass, Matt’s stomping drums, and Elan’s haunting electric harmonica. We’re incredibly proud of how it turned out.”
Enjoy! Also, look for a full album this Summer.
