It’s Cold Outside – a Premiere From Cold Chocolate

Monday, February 02, 2026 By Mayer Danzig

There are guitar-drum duos who sound like guitar-drum duos. And there are those that do something special. Cold Chocolate are firmly in the latter category.

The Boston duo blend folk, rock, funk and bluegrass into something that honors tradition while kicking up a ruckus with scruffy guitar and driving rhythms. They don’t limit themselves to that sonic profile either—weaving in keyboards, bass, and other instruments in supporting roles when the songs call for it.

“It’s Cold Outside” has a seasonally appropriate title, but the cold here isn’t meteorological. The song captures the particular chill of a relationship breaking down—the discomfort and the anxiety.

“I cannot tell you the reason but please believe me that it’s cold outside tonight and I’m freezing,” they sing with an energy that runs counter to the lyrics’ emotional frost.

Twangville is honored to premiere “It’s Cold Outside” from Cold Chocolate’s forthcoming Not Gonna Stop.
