Join the Tribute To Dallas Good

Saturday, October 11, 2025 By Shawn Underwood

If you’re a fan of the roots rock/alternative country style that’s one of the mainstays here in Twangville, you’ve undoubtedly heard The Sadies. Their sound is unmistakeable, owing in no small part to the twin lead guitars of brothers Dallas and Travis Good. Over the years they’ve put out 20+ records, either on their own or with collaborators, including Neko Case, John Doe, and Jon Langford. Several of those ended up in Twangville’s Top Albums of the Year list.

Sadly, Dallas passed away unexpectedly in February of 2022, just after they finished their Colder Streams album. It turns out Dallas had been working with Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire) on a side project. And the last song Dallas wrote, entitled Not In This World, was something for that record. The first single, There’s Time, for that new album has just come out. Here’s the real kicker.

They’re producing Not In This World as a tribute to Dallas. Neko Case, Kurt Vile, Yo La Tenga, and others have contributed to the song already. Now it’s your turn. That’s right, here’s an opportunity to sing on the Dallas Good Tribute. Richard Reed Parry has posted a video on how to do that. Basically, there’s an email address, you record a clip of you and/or friends singing a line of the chorus, then send it in. I mean, how cool is that?

About the author:  I've actually driven from Tehatchapee to Tonopah. And I've seen Dallas from a DC-9 at night.
