Monday Morning Video – Harry Nilsson

Monday, September 15, 2025 By Mayer Danzig

We’re gonna travel back 50 years for this week’s Monday Morning Video. In 1975 legendary songwriter Harry Nilsson appeared on The Smothers Brothers tv show to talk about songwriting – “song construction” in his words – and play a few songs. He kicks things off with “I Guess the Lord Must Live in New York City”, famously written for but not included in the move “Midnight Cowboy”. From there we get two songs, most notably “Think About Your Troubles” from his 1971 animated film “The Point”. The segment closes with Nilsson performing “One”, made famous by Three Dog Night but here performed by its composer.
