Fort Worth’s Vincent Neil Emerson brought his country stylings to New York City over the weekend. The show featured some Emerson classics alongside some great covers of songs by Willie Nelson and The Band, among others. Even better, he showcased some great new songs destined for a new album planned for release in early 2026.
Here are two Emerson favorites, performed acoustic style. First up is a phenomenal backstage performance (not from this weekend) of “Roadrunner”, his duet with Colter Wall. Then is “Letters on the Marquee”, his ode to being a touring musician. How can you not love the song’s tale of dealing with “a fool in a barroom”, as Emerson describes: He’s yelling, “Sing another David Allan Coe song!” but I ain’t sang one yet”.
