I’ve written before about the richness of the Norwegian Americana scene, affectionately called Nordicana. The latest to emerge from those fertile grounds is Norma, a quartet delivering some mighty fine cosmic country. Their sound blends psychedelic shimmer, rock grit, and folk warmth, all wrapped in luminous three-part harmonies.
Though still a relatively new band, they’ve already earned a Spellemann Award (Norwegian grammy) nomination for their debut EP. Their new single, “Rabbit Feet,” builds on that promise – a rumbling country rocker that would have made Gram Parsons proud.
Says the band about the song:
“Rabbit Feet” is a cheeky little boogie about feeling stuck in the mud – but still making sure your hair looks good. It’s about broken promises, convenient little lies we sweep under the rug, and the anxious hedgehog who really just needs a hug.
The lyrics might sound like a downer, but musically? Not a trace of gloom. It’s more like the theme song to a ‘90s cartoon – silly, guitar-packed, and totally harmless.
Twangville is honored to premiere “Rabbit Feet” from Norma.
