Monday Morning Video – Radney Foster

Monday, June 09, 2025 By Mayer Danzig

With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, it feels like the perfect time to share this song. One of the standout moments from last year’s AmericanaFest was seeing Radney Foster perform it during a songwriter round hosted by Sunny Sweeney. As the event was winding down, Sweeney asked Jack Ingram to close it out. Ingram demurred and, after speaking about how this song was an inspiration to him, asked Foster to play it.

Before performing it, Foster shared—as he does in the video below—that he wrote the song about the experience of fatherhood and the hopes he carries for his son.
