I fell down the Warren Zevon rabbit hole this weekend. It started with videos of Zevon himself, but it quickly stretched into the abyss of Zevon covers.
Here’s a video playlist with some favorites from that journey: Town Mountain’s bluegrass take on “Lawyers Guns and Money”, Dawes and Lucius making a head fake before launching into “Desperados Under the Eaves”, Australia’s Tex Perkins’ channeling Zevon with his growling vocals on “Werewolves of London”, and Eddie Vedder’s moving “Keep Me In Your Heart”.
And, of course, we need to include one by the man himself – accompanied by T-Bone Burnett – with an acoustic performance of “Lawyers Guns and Money”.
