Monday Morning Video – Buddy Holly “Not Fade Away”

Monday, December 23, 2024 By Mayer Danzig

I fell down a Buddy Holly rabbit hole this weekend. It had been a while, but it was great to remind myself of how impressive a talent Holly was. And how inspirational. Below is a playlist that features a jaw-dropping collection of artists performing just a single song from the Holly catalog – “Not Fade Away”: Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan (accompanied by Nils Lofgren), Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jack White, and the Grateful Dead (accompanied by Pete Townshend). Oh, and to close out the playlist, an all-star cast including Bonnie Raitt, Joe Ely, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr., Jimmie Vaughan (to name just a few) celebrating Austin City Limits back in 2014.

You didn’t think I would post about Holly without including one of his performances, did you? Here’s Holly and the Crickets on the Ed Sullivan Show back in 1958.
