Here we are again! Thanksgiving 2024, y’all! which means we’re celebrating 20 years of Twangville’s existence. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been writing a Thanksgiving toast each year to thank our contributors, our community, and the artists who give us something to listen to and write about.
Each year, I use the holiday to thank one of our authors. As of last year, we’ve run through the list. So, why not use this occasion to thank everyone together?
It was Mayer’s mixtapes from the early 2000s that inspired me to start Twangville. It’s incredible to think how far we’ve come. If it weren’t for a shared love of music and this group of amazing people, it would have never come to be.
Here’s a look back at our Thanksgiving toast over the years:
- 2015: John Anderson
- 2016: Todd Mathis
- 2017: Chip Frazier
- 2018: Shawn Underwood
- 2019: Jeff McMahon
- 2020: Bill Wilcox
- 2021: Suzanne McMahon
- 2022: Mayer Danzig
- 2023: Tom Osborne
Let’s not forget the artists. Without someone to make the music, we’d have nothing to share. Without you gracious readers, we’d have no one to share music discovery with. All to say, thank you to infinity and back for being a part of this community.
This time next year, we’ll start looking back 20 years to thank the musicians who have inspired us.
Cheers, and Happy Thanksgiving!
