Another country legend is gone with the passing of Kris Kristofferson this weekend. Kristofferson first established himself as a songwriter, writing such notable songs as “Sunday Morning Coming Down” (most notably recorded by Johnny Cash in 1970) and “Me and Bobby McGee” (made famous by Janis Joplin). He then embarked on his own highly successful solo career, not to mention appearing in numerous movie classics that ranged from “A Star Is Born” (the original…) to “Blade”.
Here are two videos to celebrate Kristofferson and his legacy. First is “Me and Bobby McGee”, performed with his The Highwaymen compadres Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash. Second is “Sunday Morning Coming Down” from a 1981 performance in Austin, Texas.
