“Play Another Record” – a Premiere from Brandon Callies

Thursday, September 05, 2024 By Mayer Danzig

With his latest single, Dallas singer-songwriter Brandon Callies offers the kind of advice that we all should heed. Originally recorded for his last record, the 2021 pop gem Sunrise Diner, the song celebrates the joy of listening to music. Although he doesn’t specify, I’d like to think it about putting some vinyl on the record player and savoring the moment. “Play another record,” he sings, “like the one that says ‘If Only I Could Fly’” – one of several country classics that he references during the course of the song.

Explains Callies: Play Another Record is a story about how the love of music is passed down generationally. The song speaks to a family’s love of music and how it pulls them closer together.

Twangville is honored to premiere “Play Another Record” by Brandon Callies, due for release on the streaming platforms this Friday.
