I’m in the mood to start the week with some good ol’ rock and roll. And who better to Rockpile, part of the English pub rock movement of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Rockpile – Dave Edmunds (vocals, guitar), Nick Lowe (vocals, bass guitar), Billy Bremner (vocals, guitar) and Terry Williams (drums) – only released one album under their own name but both Edmunds and Lowe released subsequent solo albums that leaned heavily on songs recorded with Rockpile.
This is a full concert by the group, recorded in Germany back in 1980. I’ve anchored the video to “Juju Man”, a particularly incendiary performance about three quarters of the way through the show. If you like what you hear, however, you should rewind to the beginning for more than an hour of melodic – and glorious – rock and roll.
