Todd’s Tops of 2023

Friday, January 12, 2024 By Todd Mathis

Another year, another “Best Of” list. I think in the 80s/90s I could tell what I listened to the most that year by the drag of the tape on the cassette. Enter the late mid-90s/2000s, the skips in the CD. Now, it’s a Spotify list of the most played artist. And while yes, Taylor Swift was in my top 5 (I have 3 girls in the house under 16 and even though they have their own accounts under my family plan, we listen to a lot of Taylor in the car.), she didn’t make my Twangville list. But besides the most popular female in the world right now, I bet you my girls could also sing along to a tune or two of Robbie Fulks, Lukas Nelson or Colter Wall because those got played just as much as Swifty this year in my household. Here’s a playlist featuring songs from 23 of my favorite albums starting with Fulks (who I voted at 1 in the Twangville poll) and ending with Lydia Loveless (23).
