We’ve done periodic shows in the past but we might have gotten a bit carried away this summer. We’ve got not one, not two, not three, but four shows on the books. Read on for details on the shows and featured artists, as well as videos from all of the performers.
Americana the Beautiful – Rockwood Music Hall on Wed, July 19th @ 6:30pm (TICKETS)
We’ve partnered with the incredible NYC-based organization Keepsake House for a show that will explore what it means to play Americana music and definitions of what it is to be American and achieve “the American dream.” We hope this show will spotlight artists’ experiences and songs in a genre and industry that isn’t always willing to. At its core, this show is less about Americana music and more about who gets to play Americana music, with the thesis that Americana music should be any music that is written about this land, its past and present, and played by the people who are here.
Singer-songwriters Garrett Owen and Laura Zarougian will join Keepsake House artists in residence singer-songwriter Napat Snidvongs and storyteller Valarie Walker for what we expect will be an extraordinary show.
Twangville at the 11th Street Bar – 11th Street Bar on Thu, July 20th @ 8:30pm (FREE but tip the band)
Friend of Twangville and talented musician Robert Cody Maxwell and his band will anchor a special evening at this storied NYC music venue. Garrett Owen will join the band for a rocking set of his own tunes and the evening will be kicked off by Keepsake House artist BassBowWow.
Twangville Boston Showcase – Rockwood Music Hall on Fri, July 21st @ 8pm (TICKETS)
We’re taking the show on the road! Robert Cody Maxwell and Garrett Owen with their band will be headed north to the newly opened Rockwood Music Hall in Boston. We’ll be joined there by former Boston – now Austin – resident Phil Hurley. Hurley is the co-founder of not one, not two, but three Twangville faves, specifically Gigolo Aunts, Stonehoney, and The South Austin Moonlighters. Rumor has it there might be a familiar face or two in his band that night…
Twangville Providence Showcase – Askew on Sat, July 22th @ 5:30pm (TICKETS)
We’ll close out the week with a fun early evening set at one of the best music rooms in Providence. Robert Cody Maxwell and Garrett Owen will be kicking off Saturday night in style.
