I’ve gotten to know Faithless Town over the years as a mighty fine guitar rock band. On their latest single, however, they trade the guitar for a… ukulele. But even as some things change, others remain the same – specifically a catchy melody with a sing-along chorus.
“I wrote this song as a love letter to my wife when I was getting ready to propose to her,” says singer-songwriter Gene Owens about the song, “It’s probably the most optimistic and romantic song I’ve ever written.”
The song features wonderful vocals from Leora Joy Perrie of Canadian duo Winsom Kind. Says Owen about the collaboration with Perrie: When I first heard Winsom Kind’s music I was blown away by their incredible harmonies. I had written a duet part for a female voice and still hadn’t found the right person to sing on in it. After hearing Leora’s voice, I thought she would be perfect for it so I sent them a message on Instagram and they were totally open to the collaboration.
And what about the whistling that gives the song a decidedly Lumineers vibe, Gene? “While we were tracking the song, Dan Dixon, our producer, started whistling the chorus melody and I was like “That’s perfect. We need to put that in the song!”
Twangville is honored to premiere the video for “Bride” from Faithless Town.
