Part of the fun of moving to a new city is exploring new venues. It’s certainly been that way for me in NYC.
One of my fave finds is the 11th St Bar in the East Village. The bar has a storied musical history, counting Ryan Adams and Justin Townes Earle, among others, as patrons over the years. In my relatively short time in town, I’ve already seen members of Counting Crows and the E Street Band sitting in with artists playing in the back room.
The true testament of its musical cred, however, is to have songs written about it. Here are two gems about the 11th Street Bar – one rockin’ and one folky – courtesy of Aaron Lee Tasjan and Matt Mays.
