It’s been quite a year for Oslo Norway’s Ole Kirkeng. Last February he released his impressive debut EP Rocking Chair. Several months later it was recognized with the Spellemann Award, Norway’s Grammys, for Country Record of the Year. Not a bad start to a career.
Since then, he’s been releasing a few singles, including the forthcoming “Million Miles”. This latest song mines similar ground to the EP – gentle and ambling pop songs that ooze melancholy. In this case, Kirkeng pines for a distant loved one – “a million miles from a taste of your kiss,” he sings.
Says Kirkeng about the song: “Million Miles is about being far away from someone, both figuratively and/or metaphorically. All though written in times of uncertainty, I wanted the song to carry a sense of hope, and that somehow, things have a way of sorting themselves out one way or another.”
Twangville is honored premiere the latest single from Ole Kirkeng, scheduled for release on 29 June.
