Box O’ Wine – A Premiere from Wood Willow

Thursday, June 23, 2022 By Mayer Danzig

Fresh from dazzling the crowd at the Twangville Sunday Social in Dallas earlier this month, Wood Willow are back to premiere the latest video from Southern Intentions, their debut album.  The song, with its jazzy vibe, demonstrates the band’s versatility while also showcasing the interlaced vocals of Joel Parks and Becca Herrod Parks.

The video, which Twangville is premiering today, stars a box of wine. Literally. The band isn’t disclosing how many boxes were consumed that day, but it sure looks like they had some fun while creating the video.  Says Joel about the song and video:

This is a nonsense song. I wrote it about a fictional homeless man that likes to drink wine instead of solving problems. Then on the chorus, we party. This song appears on an album I put out with my old band, Ripple Green (which also featured Lucas Gillette). Wood Willow has brought it back and given it an entirely new sound.

Filming this video was a lot of fun to make. Inspired by the song title and party vibe of the song, we asked ourselves, “what if we saw a house party through the point of view of a box of wine?” And we did exactly that. Another goal was to make it look like it was all in one take. So once we had the storyboard completed we invited some of our rowdiest friends and did our best to direct them! The end result is a very fun and fairly accurate depiction of the house shows that we play.
