It seems like there is a tremendous amount of pain and suffering in the world these days. In times like these, music can offer a welcome salve. The latest single from Austin’s Beth // James – the husband/wife duo of Mikaela Beth and Jordan James Burchill – provides such a musical moment.
“The Sun” starts as a quiet ballad but builds in intensity towards a grand, electric guitar-fueled conclusion. It is both enchanting and dramatic. Beth’s vocals are a focal point, buoyant and uplifting, while Burchill’s guitar and harmonies add to the song’s potency.
Say the duo about the song:
During the lockdown stage of the pandemic we were living in this little duplex with a small outdoor space. Every day we would go take walks around the neighborhood or just sit outside in the sun. That was always the highlight of our day. Anytime it was raining and we couldn’t go outside, it felt like we lost a little bit more of our freedom.
This song is about being grateful for what you have while you have it. Being present for the good moments and soaking it all in while you can. The bad are inevitable, but the sun will always come out again if you just wait a little while.
Twangville is honored to premiere the video for “The Sun”. Get Together, the duo’s debut full-length, will be released on June 3rd.
