After 13 years behind the drum kit for Norwegian indie popsters Razika, Embla Karidotter has not only stepped out on her, she’s forging a path in a new musical direction. The forthcoming Hello, I’m Embla hearkens back to the no nonsense country of the 1970’s. “Home”, Karidotter’s latest single, opens with enticing pedal steel and an ambling rhythm of the kind that you’d want to hear while cruising down a rural highway. Perhaps that’s not a surprise to learn that she wrote the song while touring Norway in an RV. Says Embla:
“In 2020 my boyfriend, my dog and I moved into an RV we bought the same year, to travel around in. Because of the pandemic, we had to stay in Norway, but getting to know your country like this is really fun. This was the first time I lived outside Bergen (where I’m born and raised). On the road I quickly found out that “home” isn’t a specific place, but a feeling.”
Twangville is honored to premiere “Home”, the group’s latest single. Hello, I’m Embla is scheduled for release in August but don’t wait until then to give Embla and the Karidotters’ your musical attention.
