Monday Morning Video – Trey Johnson

Monday, February 07, 2022 By Mayer Danzig

Dallas lost one of the cornerstones of its music scene last week with the passing of Trey Johnson. Sorta, the band Johnson co-founded in 2000, quickly established themselves as local favorites and achieved some national recognition before disbanding in 2008. Johnson went on to co-found State Fair Records, the Dallas label that launched the careers of Vandoliers and Joshua Ray Walker.

Back in 2009, Johnson released a solo album titled Mount Pelèe. The video below is from an appearance at Dalla radio station KXT to highlight a few of that album’s songs. Scroll down to hear “Sweet Little Bay”, one of Sorta’s signature songs.
