After a number of years spent living in New York City, singer-songwriter Kevin Daniel decamped for Asheville last year. One listen to his forthcoming album Been Here Before and one can hear the influence of both locations. The collection of songs combines the rootsy mountain air of Asheville with the gritty edge of NYC, with some gospel hints thrown in for good measure.  Â
This live version of “Don’t See The Light†gloriously plays more to the former, bristling with anxiety as Daniels sings “I’ll start the fire, lead the devil’s choir.â€Â Says Daniels about the session that produced this video:Â
“This live version of Don’t See The Light was recorded at Sidehouse Studios in Asheville, NC. I originally did an acoustic session at the space and then realized it’d be a great spot to do some live versions of songs off my new album. I recruited local Asheville rockers Thomson Knoles (keys), Jon Clayton (guitar), Keith Harry (bass), and Logan Jayne (drums). I really love the way it came out! It can be a tough song to play live and this is one of my first times really doing so, the song is that new!”
