Monday Morning Video – Smokey Robinson

Monday, June 21, 2021 By Mayer Danzig

Artists who cover Smokey Robinson’s “The Tracks of My Tears” have a tendency to slow it down. I’m partial to the more upbeat original, which more accurately captures the song’s tale of hiding heartbreak behind a veneer of happiness.

People say I’m the life of the party
‘Cause I tell a joke or two
Although I might be laughing loud and hearty
Deep inside I’m blue

So take a good look at my face
You’ll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it’s easy to trace
The tracks of my tears

Here are Smokey Robinson and the Miracles performing “Tracks of my Tears”. At the correct tempo.
