Monday Morning Video – Allen Toussaint

Monday, November 23, 2020 By Mayer Danzig

Legendary New Orleans club Tipitina’s recently hosted a live stream to raise funds to help the venue survive the Covid pandemic. It was, of course, a tremendous celebration of an institution whose reputation stretches around the world.

Among many highlights was footage of the late Allen Toussaint. It was a welcome reminder of Toussaint’s greatness as a songwriter, musician, and performer.

Here’s a triumvirate: the Toussaint-penned “What Do You Want the Girl To Do” and “Fortune Teller”) as well as his take on Paul Simon’s “American Tune”.

About the author:  Mild-mannered corporate executive by day, excitable Twangville denizen by night.
