In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, a group of New Orleans finest musicians convened in Austin, Texas to record an album in tribute to their home town. The resulting Sing Me Back Home was both a celebration and a statement – a reminder of the city’s wondrous musical heritage and a declaration that they would triumph over adversity in whatever form it took.
Among the stand-outs of the release was the opening cover of Curtis Mayfield’s 1968 declaration “This Is My Country”.
