My first encounter with Ruby Boots was an acoustic set when she opened for the Waifs. As much as I enjoyed that show, it did little to prepare me for the fire and fury when she fronts a band. It’s something to behold.
Although the video quality is a bit rough, here’s Boots and company (featuring Brandy Zdan on guitar) blasting their way through “Somebody Else,” one of the stand-outs from Don’t Talk About It, her latest album.
As a bonus, I’ve also included a three-song set recorded live in a studio earlier this year. It’s a bit more subdued but just as fun.
Keep an eye out for Boots on tour – you won’t be disappointed.
