Happy Halloween! Â We’re happy as all get out to premiere a perfect Halloween video today. Â It’s from New Orleans-based Jon Hatchett Band. Â I make mention of the geography, because it’s important to the story here. Hatchett commented that New Orleans is a place that feels like Halloween all year round. Â I can attest to the fact that the locals revel in strangeness. Â So here’s a tale that has a plot line that maybe isn’t so unusual, at least down there, and the chorus (and title) is something we can all identify with; Was the Feeling Last Night Worth the Feeling Right Now.
The entire album, Mother Nature Wins Again, is filled with lowbrow laments that many of us have felt, and probably would have been hits for George Jones (If Drinkin’ Don’t Kill Me Her Memory Will) or Merle Haggard (Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down) or Jerry Reed (She Got the Gold And I Got the Shaft).  One of the best is the title track where Hatchett observes that “Mother Nature don’t let you choose when you get the blues”.  And You Can’t Regret What You Don’t Remember is a classic cut about having one, or several, drinks too many.
One final note. Â You may want to consider this Not Safe For Work. Â The language is fine, but director Alison Forest pays homage to Robert Rodriguez and if you’ve seen his films you’ll know the blood may be a bit much for your cubicle mates. Â Enjoy!
