Monday Morning Video – The Soulful Side of Langhorne Slim

Monday, July 09, 2018 By Mayer Danzig

Langhorne Slim has firmly established himself as one of the leading, albeit criminally lesser-known, lights of roots Americana. The beauty and honesty in his songwriting is captivating; the passion of his live performances, whether solo or full band, is exhilarating.

Part of what sets him apart is the soulfulness that infuses his music. Here are two performances that exemplify that aspect of his performing. First up is “Funny Feelin'”, his homage to Junior Kimbrough and Ted Hawkins (featured on his impressive late 2017 release Lost at Last, Vol 1.). That’s followed by an radio station in-studio cover of Fats Domino, complete with a story about a childhood encounter with the music of the legendary New Orleans musician.
