It’s certainly summer music season and here’s another for your seasonal playlist. The track, “What Am I Supposed To Do†comes from UK-based band Cowbell. The duo, comprised of Jack Sandham and Wednesday Lyle, betray their geographical roots by running with a decidedly American sound. Imagine traipsing the dusty backroads on a path that parallels the Mississippi River, soaking in everything from southern soul to gritty R&B. That’s the sound of Cowbell’s US debut, Haunted Heart, scheduled for release on 2 June.
Twangville is delighted to premiere a new video from the album, three minutes of maximum entertainment. The mix of animation with snippets of the band singing and playing along bristles with a heavy retro feel. And damn if the vintage keyboards don’t make the track extra tasty.
Says Sandham of the video:
“We’d seen a couple of videos Paul had done for a friend’s band and thought they were very cool so we approached him to do something for us. He loved our LP cover (by Jaime Zuverza) and said he’d get to work using that artwork as a base. We gave him some green screen footage of us messing around in the studio too. We didn’t guide him at all but we thought how he interpreted the words was really funny and surreal. It emerged as a beautiful psychedelic cocktail of his and Jaime’s warped and wonderful imaginations!â€
