Monday Morning Video – Brett Newski “D.I.Y.”

Monday, December 05, 2016 By Mayer Danzig

How about a sing-along to start the week? Singer-songwriter Brett Newski knows all about D.I.Y., building his career one show at a time on what seems like a perpetual world tour. He’s got the battle scars to prove it, too. From stolen vans to “soul crusher” shows in front of scant (or the occasional non-existent) audiences, he’s continued down his musical path. To say that he has persevered doesn’t do it justice, he’s celebrated the journey while treating listeners to a continuous stream of infectious, sometimes edgy, pop songs.

Here’s a favorite track off his recently released Land Air Sea Garage. I mean what’s not to like about a song that features a kazoo solo and a chorus that proclaims, “I’m D.I.Y., I’m punk as fuck, don’t need your money, I don’t want your love.”

About the author:  Mild-mannered corporate executive by day, excitable Twangville denizen by night.
