Austin-based singer-songwriter David Ramirez passed through Boston last week as part of his “Bootleg Tour,” for which every audience members gets a digital recording of the show). Standing alone on stage (save a coffee table with a lamp and a framed Bill Murray promo picture from the movie “Stripes”), Ramirez mesmerized the crowd with a mix of songs old and new. On the new front, he previewed a couple of songs planned for his next album. The songs, both political and personal, showed an artist who continues to be restless in furthering his art.
Among the old favorites were these two gems. “The Bad Days” appeared on his 2013 ep The Rooster while “Hold On” appeared on last year’s outstanding Fables. While these videos offer up band versions, the songs are just as – if not more – striking when delivered in a solo acoustic setting.
